How we collect, use, and protect the information you share when you create a SongReel.

The short version
You give us photos, videos, and a few details about someone you love. We use AI to turn them into a custom song and music video. We don't sell your data, we don't train AI models on your content, and you can delete everything anytime by emailing us.
Who we are
SongReels is operated by the SongReels team. We make AI-generated personalized music videos as gifts. When this policy says "we," "us," or "SongReels," that's who we mean. When it says "you," that means anyone who creates an account or uses our service.

Information we collect
Information you give us directly
When you sign up and use SongReels, you give us:
- Account info: your name, email address, and profile picture, via Google Sign-In
- Recipient details: the name of the person your gift is for, the occasion, and any theme or story you write to inspire the song
- Media files: the photos and video clips you upload (up to 20 files, max 100 MB per video, 25 MB per photo)
- Descriptions: the text you type or speak to describe each clip
- Song preferences: genre, mood slider value, song length tier, and any focus text
- Edits: any changes you make to the AI-generated script or lyrics during review
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: what steps you complete, how long generation takes, which features you use
- Device info: browser type, operating system, screen size, IP address (for security and analytics)
- Error logs: if something breaks, we log it so we can fix it
Information from Google Sign-In
When you sign in with Google, we receive your email, full name, profile picture URL, and Google account ID. We don't access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, calendar, or anything else from your Google account. We only use these credentials to recognize you across sessions.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create your SongReel: we analyze your uploaded media with AI to understand what's in each clip, write a custom song script and lyrics, compose the music, and render the final video
- Show you your past gifts: so you can come back and re-share or create new ones
- Improve the service: understand which features work, where users get stuck, what to build next
- Support you: respond to questions, troubleshoot issues, send important account or service updates
- Comply with law: respond to lawful requests from government authorities, prevent fraud, enforce our terms
We do NOT use your information to:
- Train AI models, your photos, videos, and lyrics are never used as training data for any AI system, by us or by any of our processors
- Send marketing emails to people who haven't opted in
- Sell or rent your data to anyone, ever
- Identify individuals in photos using facial recognition (we don't run any biometric identification)
Who we share data with
We share the minimum amount of data needed with trusted service providers (called "subprocessors") that help us deliver SongReels. We have contracts with each of them requiring them to protect your data and use it only for the purpose we hired them for.

We may also share data with:
- Law enforcement when legally required by court order or subpoena
- Business successors if SongReels is acquired or merged (you would be notified)
AI processing of your content
SongReels relies on third-party AI systems. Here's what each one sees and does:
Google Gemini (clip analysis)
We upload your video and photo files to Google's Files API and ask Gemini to describe what it sees in each clip (objects, actions, mood). Google retains these files for up to 48 hours before automatic deletion. Per Google's API terms, content submitted to the Gemini API is not used to train Google's AI models.
Anthropic Claude (lyrics and script writing)
We send Claude the recipient's name, occasion, theme, and per-clip text descriptions. Claude generates the script and song lyrics. Per Anthropic's API terms, this data is not used to train Claude models and is retained for a limited period for abuse monitoring.
Suno (song composition)
We send the final approved lyrics and style preferences to Suno's API to compose original music. The composed song is delivered back to us and stored alongside your job.
Creatomate (video rendering)
Creatomate receives the URLs to your media files and the generated song, and assembles them into the final 9:16 vertical video. Creatomate does not retain rendered output beyond the storage period required for delivery.
Important: By using SongReels, your uploaded media passes through the third-party AI services listed above. We've chosen each one because their terms of service prohibit training on customer data, but you should only upload photos and videos you have the right to share.
Where your data is stored
Your account info, uploaded media, generated content, and final videos are stored in:
- Supabase (account info, generated content metadata), hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States
- Supabase Storage (your uploaded photos and videos), hosted on AWS infrastructure
- Backblaze B2 (final rendered videos), US-based
If you are accessing SongReels from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the service you consent to this transfer.
How long we keep data

You can request earlier deletion at any time by emailing us.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any data that's inaccurate
- Delete your account and all associated data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to certain uses of your data
- Withdraw consent for any processing that's based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@songreels.ai from the address associated with your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, or CCPA respectively. The rights above cover the substance of those rights; specific procedures may differ. Contact us if you'd like to invoke any region-specific protections.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage items:
- Auth session cookies from Supabase, to keep you signed in
- sessionStorage in your browser, to remember your current gift-in-progress so you don't lose your work if you reload
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics that share data with ad networks.
Children's privacy
SongReels is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it promptly.
Some clips may show children (the recipient or family members in your uploads). By uploading such media, you confirm you have the legal right to do so and that you are the parent, guardian, or have permission from the parent or guardian of any minor depicted.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or via a prominent notice in the app.
Continued use of SongReels after a change means you accept the updated policy.
